Some Twitter Marketing Perspective

We’ve done our fair share of blogging about using Twitter and Facebook as marketing media.  We have little doubt that social media as a marketing platform will only grow in importance but occasionally even we suffer a bit of Twitter fatigue.

The above gem from Dan Lyons blog reminded me of a post from Kevin Hillstrom a few weeks back that gives Twitter-as-a-marketing-platform some context. The crux:

Not everybody is using Twitter. Wow! You wouldn’t know that by reading the various SmartBrief publications, or by reading any of the Top 25 Marketing BlogsIn fact, if you took a random sample of 100 residents in the United States, you’d quickly realize that maybe 2 in 100 are on Twitter. Not 2 in 32 in 100. How are you going to reach the other 98 people in the random sample? Maybe Twitter is the next big thing. Maybe it is the next Geocities. Maybe it is a glorified version of the pen pals folks had thirty years ago. Time will tell.
